As the state capital of Baden-Württemberg and the center of one of the most important European industrial regions, Stuttgart is of national importance. Almost all major architectural trends of the 20th century are represented in Stuttgart, some of which are world-famous examples. These buildings, such as the main train station, the Weißenhofsiedlung, the Liederhalle, the television tower or the New State Gallery, are honored in the Stuttgart architecture guide. But also less well-known, but architecturally remarkable buildings - not only from the 20th century - are given appropriate consideration. When selecting the objects, the broadest possible spectrum from the different parts of the city, epochs and building types was sought. Nonetheless, the selection had to remain inevitably subjective; the users are asked for their understanding. The architectural guide Stuttgart includes more than 300 buildings. Each is presented with a photo, ground plan or elevation and detailed information text. An introduction conveys the historical and urban context. A chapter at the end of the book refers to selected buildings in neighboring communities.
